PENDLETON โ There will be a public hearing at the Pendleton City Council meeting at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday) and a public hearing and possible action could be taken that would help the Round-Up City Development Corporation (RCDC) make its youth sports complex a reality.
The state of Oregon has already granted some funding for the concept, but more is needed to complete the complex which will be able to host large baseball, softball, and soccer tournaments. In 2023, Pendleton gave RCDC an option interest in 40 acres of land west of the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport. However, in order to be eligible for potential grant funding, RCDC needs to have an ownership interest in the site.
Therefore, the council is considering declaring the land as surplus and give an exclusive option for RCDC to acquire the property upon securing the necessary funding to proceed with the project. The proposal includes language that would return the land to the city if the project has to be abandoned.
The hearing is in council chambers of Pendleton City Hall and those interested can join the meeting via Teams HERE.
