PENDLETON – The new Pendleton Community Garden has received two grants. The Wildhorse Foundation is donating $10,000 and Ag West Farm Credit has approved a $2,500 grant. The community garden is a collaborative effort with Umatilla County Public Health, Umatilla County Master Gardener Association, and the city of Pendleton.

The funds will help provide the materials to establish the garden including fencing, garden boxes, benches, and soil. The grant from the Wildhorse Foundation will also help with educational opportunities for the community including Seed to Supper and youth classroom education.

The garden is at 1020 S.W. 25th St. in Pendleton on land owned by the city of Pendleton. People interested in renting a plot can learn more and sign up now at GARDEN PLOT ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION.

The plots are sized 4 ft x 8 ft x 3 ft. They are ADA accessible. They will open for planting in April and the growing season will last until Oct. 21. Those who rent plots this year will be able to renew them for the next season.
