PENDLETON – Mayor McKennon McDonald says the city council is seeking someone to fill her seat representing Ward 2 on the Pendleton City Council now that she’s taken the oath of office for mayor.

“It will be restricted to applicants within Ward 2,” she said. “We have a map of that on the city website. Essentially it’s from the Eighth Street Bridge to the North Hill side all the way across to the airport.”

McDonald was halfway through her most recent term on the council when she was elected mayor by a healthy margin in May. The city council will appoint someone to take her seat in February.

Letters of interest accompanied by resumes will be accepted at Pendleton City Hall until 5 p.m. Jan. 31. McDonald said the council will then interview the applicants and appoint one of them to the job. The term will run until the end of 2026.

Questions regarding the process may be directed to City Recorder Sheri Allen at 541-966-0222.
