PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council has a lengthy agenda for its meeting at 7 p.m. today at Pendleton City Hall. One of the items is a public hearing to change the zoning on a five-acre piece of land behind Safeway.
Oxford Suites, the owner of Thoroughbred Car Wash, and the new owner of the old Cummins building are asking for the zoning to be changed from light industrial to central mixed use. Central mixed use zoning is considered more versatile. The new owner of the Cummins building wants to start a Head Start facility there, and education is not allowed at all under light industrial zoning. The council is expected to vote on the zoning change after the hearing.
The consent agenda includes appointing another municipal judge to serve in a pro tem capacity. Kurt Bendixsen has served as a judge pro tem for Hermiston and Stanfield and has offered to step in as his schedule allows when Pendleton Municipal Court needs.
Also on the consent agenda, Dusty Pace, doing business as South County Construction, wants to assign his ground lease to 282EL, LLC, which is made up of Jason Graybeal and Robert Bates. They have joined together to buy a plane and are working on their pilot’s licenses. The ground lease includes a 50-by-70 hangar.
New business includes a number of annexation requests. They include more than six acres of land off Southwest Kirk Extension and a little over two acres of land off Southwest Tutuilla Road.
The meeting is in council chambers of Pendleton City Hall. It is also available via Zoom. The meeting ID is 873 9379 6721 and the pass code is 082832.
