PENDLETON – Pendleton Budget Committee meetings should end tomorrow. The committee meets at 7 a.m. Thursday in the Vert Little Theater.
Earlier, City Manager Robb Corbett speculated that a final meeting would be likely for Friday. However that is no longer the case. A city official tells Elkhorn Media Group that the Thursday meeting will be the final one and will last as long as it takes to work through the budgets for the Pendleton City Council and the Pendleton Development Commission.
Due to a change in software the proposed budget wasn’t ready until the first early morning meeting on May 12. General fund expenses are lower than last year. Corbett says that is in part because the building department has been removed from the spending plan. That one-person department has remained vacant after over a year of attempting to fill the position. The city has contracted with the state for building services.
The budget committee is comprised of nine citizen volunteers, the mayor, and the city council. Copies of the budget for the city and for the Pendleton Development Commission are posted at Budgets | Pendleton OR.
