PENDLETON – The Pendleton campus of Blue Mountain Community College is only open virtually until Oct. 13. President Mark Browning said BMCC is making the move because of one person who tested positive for COVID-19 even though they were not exhibiting any symptoms.
“The person that’s been affected is still asymptomatic, thank goodness, but given the protocol that we have from health districts and experts, this is what we need to do in order to make sure that everybody’s safe,” he said.
Browning stressed that while the buildings are closed, the college is open and working remotely.
“The number-one priority top our students is to make sure that we stay open so that we can offer those classes that they’ve signed up for,” he said. “They’ve got dreams and they’re not going to put those dreams on hold. We’ve got to make sure that we’re still able to deliver those, and we’re delivering those right now remotely.”
