PENDLETON – The Pendleton Arts Commission is seeking proposals for a small mural at Brownfield Park at the intersection of South Main Street and Southeast Byers Avenue. The deadline for proposals is Dec. 31.

Brownfield Park is in the Pendleton Downtown Historic District. The mural should be compatible with the historic character of that area. The selected proposal will speak to the culture, history, flora, fauna, geography, or industry of the city. All artistic styles will be considered. Special consideration will be given to designs that show a strong artistic voice and an unexpected approach to the project.

The commission is seeking a mural that will provide a photo opportunity that encourages visitors to share their experiences on social media. The selected artist will be compensated in addition to being granted a materials budget. The small mural is the first in a new series of minor projects designed to provide emerging and established artists, age 18 or older, who have not completed a public art project with their first opportunity.

The historic criteria for the mural is listed in the call for proposals. Applications and more information are available at https://www.pendletonor.gov/bc-ac.
