PENDLETON – The Pendleton Development Commission meets at 6 p.m. today and the Pendleton City Council follows with a 7 p.m. meeting. The public can attend both meetings in the council chambers of city hall or via Zoom.
The PDC will hold a public hearing and vote on its budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year. The spending plan totals $5,469,100 including reserves.
The commission is also scheduled to approve a bid for elements of two street reconstruction projects. One is for the reconstruction and partial widening of Southeast Byers Avenue from Seventh to Main streets and the other is for work on Southeast Fourth Street from Byers to Court. The low bidder for the projects is Humbert Asphalt, Inc. of Milton-Freewater at $1,588,084.10.
The Pendleton City Council will hold a public hearing and consider changes to the city’s street tree ordinance. The recommendations from the Pendleton Tree Commission separate the prohibited and discouraged tree list from the ordinance. The commission has an updated list of trees that aren’t suitable for public rights of way and it believes that to separate the list of those trees from the wording of the ordinance will make it easier to update.
Also on the council agenda is discussing the city’s taxi contract for transportation services as well as its Dial-a-Ride and Bus Route Contract. Finance Director Linda Carter has negotiated a dial-a-ride rate increase with Elite Taxi that will not be charged to the public. The city will pick up the increased rate.
If connecting to the meetings via Zoom, the meeting ID for the PDC meeting is 848 8298 2122 and the pass code is 248854. The city council meeting ID is 885 7628 0707 and the pass code is 912756.
