PRAIRIE CITY – Prairie City Mayor Scott Officer said while the city’s Public Works Department are ready to keep the streets plowed and maintained during winter conditions in town, the mayor urged motorists to use extra caution this year on our Grant County highways:
“The roads are getting ready to get slick. We are doing our part there in town, but I hear the rumor is they’re going to be a little chintzy with the sand on our Eastern Oregon roads this year. Be extra careful. Right outside of Prairie City, and it ends up being our emergency people responding, [is] Dixie Summit, one of the worst ones in the state.”
It’s always a good plan to “know before you go.” Check current conditions on ODOT’s tripcheck.com, and follow Elkhorn Media Group and My/Grant Harney County on Facebook for road reports throughout each day.
