PRAIRIE CITY – Prairie City Schools have issued a release for students and parents. This is regarding the bus that hauls students from the Grant County Fairgrounds to the school in Prairie and back. When school begins following their winter break, school staff are requesting parents walk their students from their vehicle to the school bus in the mornings due to traffic safety concerns. This will apply to all Kindergarten through Sixth Graders. If a student has an older, responsible Jr. High or High School sibling, they can be walking buddies as well.

Good Morning John Day parents:

Because of safety concerns for our students at the Grant County Fairgrounds, we are requesting parents please walk their student(s) from their vehicle to the school bus in the mornings. In the afternoons if you could please meet your student at the covered area by the pavilion, and walk with them back to your vehicle, this would be very helpful.

This will apply to all Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. If a student has an older, responsible Jr. High or High School sibling, you are welcome to have them walk with them to and from your vehicle.

With the number of vehicles coming and going, and especially the darker mornings and evenings, we felt that this was needed.

Thank you for your understanding, and your help in keeping our students safe.
