Paraglider crash near Frog Spring triggers emergency response

HARNEY COUNTY-Emergency responders were dispatched to the area near Frog Spring on Tuesday afternoon following reports of a severe paragliding crash.
According to public safety dispatch records, a caller identified as Camron reported hearing and witnessing an orange and yellow paraglider enter a series of spiral turns in midair before crashing roughly half a mile from the entrance to Front Frog Spring at approximately 2:41 p.m.
The witness reached the crash site and located an unconscious male pilot in full flight gear wearing a helmet. Advised by dispatch and medical control to remove the pilot’s gear and perform CPR, the bystander attempted life-saving measures while emergency services were mobilized. Airlink emergency helicopter services and ground medical units were dispatched to the scene.
Medical personnel arrived on site to evaluate the pilot. Air medical response and additional ground units were standing down around 3:30 p.m. as emergency crews transferred operations to local responders on scene.
Local authorities subsequently notified surrounding law enforcement agencies, including the Redmond Police Department and Deschutes County, and contacted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to initiate a standard investigation into the incident. Emergency personnel cleared the scene and returned to quarters by 7:19 p.m.
