CANYON CITY โ A Grant County man has gotten his hunting license revoked for life, will spend over two months in jail, and has been fined over $22,000 for multiple wildlife-related offenses, according to recent Grant County Circuit Court documents.
Travis Alexander Palmer, 34, pleaded guilty to six counts of Taking, Angling, Hunting, or Trapping in Violation of Wildlife Law or Rule. As a result, Palmer was sentenced to a total of 30 days in jail, placed on Bench Probation for 18 months, and both his fishing and hunting licenses have been revoked for life. Twenty-five counts were disposed with no conviction in that case. The crimes occurred on or about March 2nd and 3rd, 2024.
Palmer was also convicted in another wildlife-related case. Grant County Court documents show that Palmer pleaded guilty to two counts of Violation of Wildlife Law with Culpable Mental State โ Felony; three additional counts of Taking, Angling, Hunting, or Trapping in Violation of Wildlife Law or Rule; and one count of Engage in Activity While License/Tag/Permit Is Revoked. In these cases, Travis Palmer was sentenced to an additional 35 days in jail; placed on Supervised Probation for 18 months; and ordered to pay a $22,500 fine to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission. Weapons including a rifle and a bow, and other equipment were forfeited to the authorities. These crimes occurred on or about September 18th, 2023.
