Pagan’s Outlaw members are out on bail

WALLA WALLA — A father and son arrested Feb. 3 for their alleged connection with the Pagan’s Outlaw Motorcycle Club entered not guilty pleas Monday at their arraignment in Walla Walla County Superior Court. John A. Smith Sr., 49, of College Place faces one count of first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and his son, John A. Smith Jr., 32, of Walla Walla faces three counts of the same charge.
Both men were arrested following an execution of search warrants in College Place and Walla Walla as part of an ongoing investigation involving the Pagan’s Outlaw Motorcycle Gang and the local chapter’s ties to felony crimes committed locally and in Georgia.
Smith Sr., a convicted felon, was arrested on Southeast 10th Street in College Place at the gang’s so-called clubhouse. According to court documents, officers recovered a Smith and Wesson .38-caliber revolver and a compatible speed loader containing six rounds of ammunition.
Investigators arrested Smith Jr., a convicted felon, at an apartment on the 1900 block of Melrose Street in Walla Walla. Three firearms were located during the execution of the search warrant, two 12-gauge shotguns and a .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun along with several magazines loaded with ammunition for the handgun.
Both men told police the firearms belonged to someone else and stated they both knew, as convicted felons, they were not allowed to possess or be around firearms. Since their arrest, both men have posted bail and been released. Their trials are set to begin April 22.
