Pacific Power is urging customers to conserve energy

PORTLAND – Pacific Power says the extreme weather across the region is causing higher than normal demand for electricity, and they’re encouraging customers to reduce electricity consumption through these voluntary steps to help reduce strain on the electrical grid.

• Switch energy use to off-peak hours (from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) whenever possible. 
• Limit use of appliances that generate heat, including dishwashers, ovens and clothes dryers to the evening or early morning. 
• Turn off lights, computers, televisions and appliances when not in use. 
• Use fans to keep air moving inside your home.
