WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office has identified James Dunleavy as the owner of the two dogs that killed 15 sheep belonging to the Walla Walla High School agriculture program Wednesday morning.

Undersheriff Joe Klundt stated that investigative reports are being forwarded to the Walla Walla County Prosecutor’s Office for review and potential charges. Two additional sheep remain under close observation with serious injuries following the attack.

In response, Walla Walla Public Schools established a fundraising page to help the program recover. Staff are currently working to replace the animals, which are vital for upcoming student projects and the regional fair season.

Community members wishing to support the program can find donation details on the district’s Facebook page or at https://www.wwps.org/

As for the dogs, Klundt said they were surrendered and are currently being held at the Blue Mountain Humane Society.
