SALEM – The Oregon Department of Transportation will be installing various traffic management devices to improve safety and traffic control in case of Interstate 84 closures in the Pendleton area and further east.
The sign structures and variable message signs will be installed this week between mileposts 210 and 214.
From 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday’s slowdowns will be in effect at milepost 210 eastbound to approximately a half mile west of that exit. On Wednesday during the same time period, the contractor will be working near milepost 211 eastbound, about a half mile east of the Exit 210 on-ramp to milepost 214 eastbound, approximately a half mile east of the Exit 213 on-ramp.
ODOT says that pilot cars will be in use and there will be temporary on-ramp closures between Exit 193 and milepost 215. On-ramps that are closed in the slow-down zone will open once the pilot cars have passed.
Once the work has been completed, travelers will see a single-lane closure to allow the contractor to remove the crane from the highway.
