LA GRANDE – Festivities at the Union County Fair have wrapped up, marking the 150th anniversary of the event since the initial founding of Union County Fair Association on September 22, 1872. The fair has come a long way since the first board meeting in Cove over a century ago, but the Union County community’s love and appreciation of rural culture remains strong, especially when it comes to the livestock trade. So strong that, in total, the Junior Fair Auction raised $378,724 dollars and sold 139 animals. This is a roughly $82,000 thousand dollar increase over last year with the same number of animals.
The opportunity to contribute to the fair isn’t quite over yet. Donations can still be arranged by calling the Union County 4-H Extension office at 541-910-1025 or by emailing ucfauction@gmail.com.
