GRANT COUNTY – May is Wildfire Awareness Month, and Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative have several fire mitigation efforts underway this season. OTEC Communications Manager Joseph Hathaway informed our news department of work being done in the Fall Mountain area:
“We invest a lot of money and a lot of time to make sure to protect our communities. Currently [we’re] underway doing a lot of wildfire mitigation right now in Grant County. In just the past year we’ve serviced several miles of line in the Fall Mountain area. We are currently replacing some wood poles with iron and steel poles that are wildfire resistant, especially in the high-risk areas.”
