LONG CREEK & JOHN DAY – Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative will be holding two wildfire mitigation town halls in Grant County. On KJDY’s Coffee Time, OTEC Communications Director Joe Hathaway gave listeners the details:
“Tomorrow [Thursday, May 11th], we’ll be in Long Creek at the Long Creek City Hall. That town hall starts at 2 p.m. Next Thursday, the 18th, we’ll be in John Day at the Fire Department there.”
The meeting in John Day begins at 5:30 p.m.
Tucker Billman, Director of Public Affairs, said Senate Bill 762 requires utility companies and co-ops to submit a Wildfire Mitigation Plan to the Public Utilities Commission:
“We’re really just meeting with our members to kind of outline what is in that plan, what’s in that document; outline some of the past practices we’ve used—some of the ways we’ve updated them and improved them; and then to take feedback from our membership on that so they know what we’ve submitted to the PUC.”
