OTEC presents Prairie City with $74K energy efficiency rebate check

PRAIRIE CITY – (Press Release from Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative)

Four years of hard work and countless manpower hours by several organizations paid off Thursday, June 29, as representatives from the City of Prairie City and Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative (OTEC), were on site to present the City of Prairie City with an energy efficiency rebate check for $74,278.04 for an electrical energy efficiency custom project.

The City of Prairie City recently completed an electrical energy efficiency custom project, upgrading its
Lift and Booster Station Pump and upgrades in piping. This project replaced the influent line from the
main lift station to the treatment lagoons, along with pumps, motors, and controls for the two lift
stations serving the treatment lagoons.

The project was fully completed in December 2022 and totaled over $1.1 million dollars.
The City of Prairie City is expecting an annual energy savings of more than 200,000 kilowatt hours per
year, totaling an annual energy cost savings of more than $14,000 for the city.

Susie Snyder, OTEC Member & Energy Services coordinator, said the City of Prairie of City project is a
win/win. It is a win for the city, a win for all our members that live in Prairie City, and a win for energy
efficiency. “Our rebate incentive program has allowed OTEC several opportunities to provide rebates
and simultaneously reduce electrical demand for capacity. It is wonderful that through the work of
OTEC’s energy efficiency team and our partners like Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), Energy
Smart Industrial (ESI), and the City of Prairie City, this project became a reality.”
