OTEC Announces 2023 Board Election Results

EASTERN OREGON – (Release from OTEC) Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative held its Annual Meeting of the Membership on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande.

Board President Wayne Overton and Chief Executive Officer Les Penning provided reports on the status of the cooperative, then OTEC Member Foundation Board Chair Charlene Chase and Executive Director Lea Hoover gave an update on the status of the foundation.

OTEC’s general counsel Ron Williams then announced the election results of three Board of Directors positions and the bylaw changes, as voted on by OTEC member-owners.

Position 1 – Union County

Jeff D. Clark – 1,883 votes.

Jeffry Zurbrick – 1,487 votes

Position 2 – Baker County

Aletha Bonebrake – 2,450 votes.

Jamie Ostrander– 858 votes.

Position 3 – Harney County

Robert Cargill – 2,942 votes.

Bylaw Changes

Yes – 2,480 votes.

No – 711 votes.

OTEC would like to congratulate the board members who were elected and would also like to thank all the candidates for their interest in serving their communities and the cooperative.

OTEC would like to thank all the member-owners who attended the meeting or watched on the livestream. We also want to thank every member-owner that participated in this year’s election and voted.

The cooperative would also like to acknowledge the work and diligence of the election and nominating committee members and thank them for their hard work on behalf of the membership.
