OSP trooper injured in foot pursuit

HERMISTON – An Oregon State Police trooper was injured in an altercation with a suspect he was trying to take into custody Monday. OSP reports the trooper had stopped a car for a traffic violation and asked for identification of a passenger who was not wearing a seat belt.

The passenger took off on foot and officials say when the trooper caught up with him, Moses Jermaine Dubose, 39, of Umatilla resisted arrest. The trooper suffered a severely dislocated shoulder and will miss work for several weeks as he recuperates, according to OSP Lt. Karl Farber.

Dubose then allegedly kicked the door of an outbuilding down to force entry, causing property damage. Eventually, he was taken to a hospital to be checked and then taken to Umatilla County Jail.

OSP reports that investigators were able to determine his identity and found there was a felony failure to appear bent warrant for his arrest. Other charges against him include aggravated assault of a public safety officer, identity theft, second-degree burglary, and second-degree escape.
