GRANT COUNTY – (Press Release from the Oregon State Police)
The Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife Division is asking for the public’s help to identify the person(s) responsible for the unlawful taking of two trophy class mule deer bucks in Grant County.
On November 10, 2021, a Fish & Wildlife Trooper from John Day responded to the Mount Vernon area for the report of a headless buck carcass along the highway. The reporting party had seen what they believed to be this buck alive on the previous day and then saw the carcass when he returned home at 4:30 P.M. The buck deer did not show signs of being road struck and only the head had been cut off near the shoulder. The reporting party had a photo of the buck when it was alive. The buck had a distinct set of antlers. Case # SP21316638
On November 10, 2021, Fish and Wildlife Troopers from John Day responded to the Murderer’s creek unit near Crazy Creek/ Dark Canyon for the report of a freshly killed trophy mule deer buck. The reporting party found the deer while it was still warm and flexible at approximately 11:00 A.M. Witnesses mentioned a dark-colored dodge pickup that they had seen several times in the area. Cash rewards can also be awarded for turning in people who destroy habitat, illegally obtain licenses/tags, and for the unlawful lending/borrowing of big game tags.
