OSP Reports 200ft of fence damaged following semi-truck crash near Baker City

BAKER CITY – Around 200ft of highway fencing was damage during a commercial motor vehicle crash last week, according to Oregon State Police. The crash occurred on Friday, April 17, at around 6:42 a.m. along I-84 Westbound near milepost 303, just north of Baker City. Thankfully, only minor injuries were reported, despite the damage.
A full summary of the crash, as provided by OSP in a recent press log, is as follows:
“OSP responded to a single vehicle crash on Westbound Interstate 84 near mile post 303. Roadway evidence indicated a white 2021 Volvo Semi-Truck pulling a 53′ van style trailer was traveling westbound when it left the roadway by way of the right-hand shoulder. The vehicle then reentered the interstate and crossed into the left-hand lane before abruptly crossing both lanes again and left the roadway off the right-hand shoulder again.
The CMV “Jackknifed” and crashed into a barbed wire/netting fence before coming to an uncontrolled rest on its wheels. The semi-truck and trailer sustained minor damage. Approximately 200 feet of fence, 10 steel posts, one road sign foldup and 4 reflectors were damaged. The trucking company arranged for their own tow. The driver of the Semi-truck was issued a citation for Failing to Drive Within Lane.”
