BAKER COUNTY – Oregon State Police in Baker County handled two separate incidents recently related to hunting violations.
The first incident involved the unlawful taking of a turkey. The subject, 22-year-old Jasmine Leanne Shorts of Baker City was contacted and determined to be in possession of an unlawfully taken turkey. The meat was seized as evidence, and she was cited and released for ORS 498.002 Unlawful Possession of a Turkey.
The second, unrelated, incident involved an elk hunting complaint near Muddy Creek. The hunter, 71-year-old Denis Walter Apple of Baker City was contacted and found to be in unlawful possession of an elk. Walter was cited for ORS 798.136 Hunting with a motor vehicle and ORS 166.630 Discharged a weapon from a public road right of way. The hunter’s elk was seized as evidence.
