WALLA WALLA — A Walla Walla woman who pleaded guilty this summer to an amended charge of second-degree murder in the 2017 shooting death of her fiancé, Daniel E. Cason, was sentenced Wednesday in Walla Walla County Superior Court. Shyla Ann Osborne, 34, was sentenced to twelve and a half years in prison and got credit for 1,178 days for time already served.
Osborne was charged with killing Cason, 31, on August 29, 2017, in the couple’s home on the 500 block of East Cherry Street.
According to court documents, the couple reportedly got into an argument, which led to a struggle involving a gun which Osborne hid in her bra. That struggle ended with the fatal shooting. The day before the shooting, the couple had also argued over financial matters.
Walla Walla County Prosecuting Attorney Jim Nagle said Wednesday’s sentencing hearing lasted almost three hours.
