Oregon State Parks Awards Grant to Eastern Oregon Downtowns

Eastern Oregon – (Information from Oregon Parks and Recreation) Oregon Heritage, a subdivision of Oregon Parks and Recreation, awarded twenty-seven matching grants to Oregon Main Street Network groups across the state. The grants were between $79,000 and $200,000, totaling nearly five million dollars. Three Downtown networks in Union, Baker and Wallowa Counties received grants. Specific amounts and what the funds will go toward are as follows:

  • Baker City Downtown
    • Grant Award:              $200,000

    • Project Description: Create a new 1st floor bar space and add a stairway and wheelchair lift for the primary access to the ballroom at the Pythian Castle in Baker City
  • Friends of La Grande Main Street
    • Grant Award:              $200,000
    • Match:                         $170,200
    • Project Description:    Restore the exterior of the Elks Lodge Building in La Grande.
  • Northeast Oregon Economic Development District
    • Grant Award:              $79,979
    • Match:                         $24,180
    • Project Description:    Complete façade improvements, construct an apartment unit, and complete energy efficiency updates at the Red Rooster Café in Enterprise.
  • Northeast Oregon Economic Development District
    • Grant Award:              $113,271
    • Match:                         $42,554
