SALEM – Oregon Speaker of the House Tina Kotek and Senate President Peter Courtney have decided the upcoming public hearings on redistricting will be held virtually.

“While the committees had hoped to visit communities across Oregon in person, the recent surge in COVID-19 cases has made this increasingly risky to public health,” a joint statement issued by Courtney and Kotek states.

The hearing dates are by Congressional district. Eastern Oregon and Central Oregon comprise the Second Congressional District. It is by far the largest district in Oregon geographically out of the five.

The meetings for those living in the Second District are from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10. On Monday, Sept. 13, there are two sessions that are open to any state residents from 1-4 p.m. and 5:30-8:30 p.m.
