HERMISTON – Hermiston High School and Principal Tom Spoo have been recognized for outstanding support of the National Guard and Reserves. Spoo is the recipient of the Patriotic Employer Award. He was nominated for that award by HHS math teacher and citizen soldier Jason Lambert.
“Mr. Lambert actually recommended Mr. Spoo for the award of recognition for the support that he, Mr. Lambert, gets when he’s getting ready to go out on a leave or come back from a leave,” Superintendent Tricia Mooney said.
Lambert praised Spoo for his leadership and dedication to supporting Lambert fulfill his military commitment.
In addition to Spoo’s award, Hermiston High School signed an official statement of support for the National Guard and Reserves. That means it commits to ensuring a workplace that respects and accommodates service members’ obligations.
