JOHN DAY – Grant County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush informed KJDY’s Coffee Time listeners on Monday that last week, Oregon State Emergency Management Direcor Eric McMahon came to visit Grant County:
“Oregon Emergency Management used to come under the Military Department as an agency, and now, it’s its own department—which kind of elevated it within the State organization, which is significant.
With that elevation, the Director was hired late last summer, and she’s making an effort to get out and visit all of the jurisdictions. We coordinated last week for her to come out and see what we’re doing.”
Bush said Director McMahon was able to make some helpful recommendations on resources that his office wasn’t aware of. Regarding her visit, Bush said, “She was really impressed with what we’ve done in the amount of time we’ve had to do it.”
