Oregon Community Foundation Partners with Stop B2H Coalition

BAKER CITY – (Release from the Stop B2H foundation) The Stop B2H Coalition has been awarded $40,000. from the Oregon Historic Trails Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation to “to educate and mobilize communities in 5 rural eastern Oregon counties to promote, advocate, and litigate for the protection and preservation of the Oregon Trail.”
Lois Barry, Board Member of the Stop B2H Coalition, explained “this is important validation of our efforts over the past five years to protect the open spaces we value in eastern Oregon from Idaho Power’s unneeded transmission line. As currently planned, the B2H transmission line would cross valued remnants of the Oregon Trail in eastern Oregon seventeen times, and severely impact the experience of walking the pristine parts of the trail near the National HistoricOregon Trail Interpretive Center near Baker City. Oregon’s regulatory agencies have apparently chosen to partner with an out of state corporate utility, leaving us no choice but to take our case to the Oregon Supreme Court. This most welcome OCF matching grant, will be combined with donations from our supporters to finance the Coalition’s case for stopping the unneeded line from impacting the Oregon Trail.”
