OLYMPIA/PORTLAND – A new measles case has been identified in Clackamas County, Oregon, while the state of Washington has confirmed its first outbreak of the disease since 2023.
A release from the Washington State Department of Health says the outbreak happened in Snohomish County linked to a family from South Carolina who visited multiple locations in King and Snohomish Counties from Dec. 27 to Jan. 1, with three unvaccinated children age 23 months to 9 years testing positive. There was also a confirmed case involving a Central Washington University student in Kittitas County that was associated with travel to South Carolina who was infectious from Jan. 8 through Jan. 22. Locations of potential exposure to the public include:

The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) confirmed a case in Clackamas County where the person is unvaccinated. It is not known if there person traveled outside of the state or if it’s connected to a case confirmed in Linn County on Jan. 10.
