OR House committee holds hearing on wells, septic bill

SALEM – The Oregon House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture, Land Use, Natural Resources, and Water is holding a series of public hearings beginning at 8 a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday. Rep. Bobby Levy (R-Echo) is a member of the committee and Rep. Mark Owens (R-Crane) is its co-chair.

After the committee introduces its members and takes care of other matters, public hearings for six bills will be held. One of them is House Bill 2168. It instructs the Oregon State University Extension Service to establish a program for providing assistance to households that rely on wells for drinking or on septic systems for wastewater treatment.

If that bill is approved by the committee, it will then be referred to the Joint Ways and Means Committee. Public hearings are also scheduled for four other bills. A complete list can be found on the committee’s schedule posted on the Oregon Legislature’s website.
