(Press Release from Ontario Fire & Rescue)
A powerful evening thunderstorm kept our first responders busy on July 26th. At approximately 7:51 PM, Ontario Fire & Rescue (OFR) was dispatched for a tree that fell on a person in the 300 block of NW 4th Street. OFR, Ontario Police Department (OPD), and Treasure Valley Paramedics (TVP) responded to the scene. There was one person injured. Crews rendered medical aid, and the patient was transported to the hospital.
Four minutes later, at 7:55 PM, OFR was dispatched to the 800 block of SW 3rd Street for a residential fire and tree down. OFR had brought in extra staff due to the storm and responded with two fire engines and a command vehicle. OFR and OPD arrived quickly to find a detached garage and fence on fire, with live power lines in the backyard of a residence. OPD began evacuating affected residents while OFR extinguished the fire. Two residences had damaged electrical service lines. There were no injuries.
