Ontario Officer Recognized for Going Above and Beyond to Assist Veteran

ONTARIO — Officer Richard Frazier of the Ontario Police Department was recently honored during a City Council meeting for his exceptional actions on July 10, 2023. The recognition came from the Veteran Advocates of Ore-Ida (VAOI) for his assistance to a veteran in need.

In July, Officer Frazier responded to a call from VAOI to address a situation involving a veteran who needed to be trespassed from their premises. The veteran had been supported by VAOI in the past, including financial aid and assistance with vehicle repairs. However, due to some concerning behavior and the presence of three dogs in a broken-down vehicle, the organization decided it was necessary for the veteran to leave their property by 4:00 p.m.

Officer Frazier’s response went beyond the usual duties of law enforcement. Before escorting the veteran off the property, he took the initiative to install a vehicle part that VAOI had purchased earlier for the veteran. Charlene Pelland, CEO of VAOI, praised Officer Frazier’s kindness and professionalism. She wrote a letter to Chief Michael Iwai, commending Officer Frazier’s dedication and going on record to say, “He deserves a great deal of credit for his gentleness and kindness toward all involved.”The recognition not only highlights Officer Frazier’s outstanding actions but also underscores the values of the City of Ontario’s police department, including commitment, openness, respect, and efficiency. Chief Iwai expressed his gratitude for Officer Frazier’s behavior, which reflects the department’s dedication to serving the community.
