ISLAND CITY – At around 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, a multi-vehicle crash was reported at the intersection of Highway 237 (Island City-Cove Highway) and Pierce Road, roughly two miles east of Island City. Despite the seeming intensity of the crash based on initial photos of the scene, along with traffic temporarily being disrupted, only minor injuries were reported in the crash according to a recent OSP press log.
A more detailed summary of the crash, as also provided in the recent press log, is as follows:
“On the above stated date and time I responded to a crash at the intersection of 237A and Pierce Rd in La Grande, Oregon. Upon investigation, it was found that the driver of the Toyota Sequoia stopped headed north on Pierce Road and did not clear the intersection. The driver of the Toyota Selica was headed east on 237A, when the Sequoia pulled out in front of him, causing a crash. Both vehicles came to rest on the northeast corner of the intersection. There were minor injuries reported. The driver of the Sequoia was cited for Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Fenn’s Towing.”
In total, three individuals were involved in the crash.
