News release from East Umatilla Fire & Rescue:
On November 10, at 10:20pm, East Umatilla Fire & Rescue was called out to a motor vehicle accident on Hansell Road and Eagle Creek Road with confirmed injuries. Upon arriving, the reporter was at Hansell Road and said an ATV went down an embankment, and another person was down there searching for the injured person. The person had found the injured person and was keeping them warm by building a fire.
Tribal Fire was also called out at the same time and the search began. About 2:50am the injured person was located, but it was still a hike into another canyon to get to him.
Life Flight was called and was on stand by until they got the patient out of the canyon.
Umatilla County Search & Rescue was called to assist in the rescue.
The patient, the person who was there with him, Umatilla County Search and Rescue, EUFR, and Tribal, carried the patient up to where Life Flight was and then transported the patient to a local hospital.
Thank you to all the emergency personnel that helped with this rescue: the EUFR crews, Tribal Fire, Pendleton Fire, Umatilla County Dispatchers, and Umatilla County Search and Rescue. It couldn’t have been done without all of us working together.
More information will be available later.
