PASCO – The Washington State Patrol reports one person was killed and another injured in a crash on Highway 395 and Vineyard Drive about one mile north of Pasco at 1:11 p.m. Thursday.
Troopers report a Nissan pickup was westbound on Vineyard Drive approaching Highway 395, when it failed to yield right of way. A semi and trailer going northbound on Highway 395 collided with the pickup.
The driver of the pickup, Luis P. Acosta Hernandez, 23, of Pasco, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Next of kin were notified prior to the crash summary being released.
The semi’s driver, Jose I. Navarro, 35, of Umatilla, was injured. He was transported to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco. He was wearing a seatbelt.
WSP reports drugs or alcohol were not involved in the crash.
