ELGIN, OR – Even though people are curious about fires, Elgin Rural Fire Protection District would like to remind on-lookers, to stay back and let the fire personnel do their job. Over the weekend Elgin Rural Fire Protection District and Imbler Fire Department responded to structure fire which was assisted by private citizens. The Elgin Rural Fire Protection District says it is highly unsafe for on-lookers to be near a scene of a fire. If possible detour around a fire scene and beware of fire equipment nearby. Keven Silvernail, Fire Chief of the Elgin Rural Fire Protection District said, if people want to become a volunteer, an application can be picked up at the City Hall.
