SALEM – Oregon Health Authority Director Pat Allen says the math shows that the science works for COVID-19 vaccinations. During Gov. Kate Brown’s Friday news conference, he illustrated how vaccines are working.
“There are eight counties who have vaccinated 65 percent or more of residents aged 16 and older,” he said. “The rate of growth in those counties has slowed. All these counties are at less than one percent growth.”
The eight counties are Benton, Clackamas, Deschutes, Hood River, Lane, Lincoln, Multnomah, and Washington. Meanwhile, there are 14 counties who have vaccination rates below 50 percent – and Allen turned the spotlight on three of them.
“Crook, Gilliam, and Umatilla counties all grew between 1.4 and 1.8 percent last week – faster than the statewide average,” he said.
