Officials issue final update on Shingle, Henry and Coyote fires

Shingle, Coyote and Henry Fires: The above statistics were current as of August 24, 2026.  The Georgia Forestry Commission Type 3 Incident Management Team will transition management of the Shingle, Coyote, and Henry fires back to the Ochoco National Forest on Tuesday August 25, 2026.  All 3 fires are in patrol status and are being monitored by local forest personnel. The Forest Service asks the public to please respect all forest and road closures that remain. Hazard trees weakened by the fire may remain, and future weather conditions may cause interior pockets of fuel to reignite. Anyone visiting the forest area should use caution.  Equipment and personnel may be in and around the fire areas for an extended period of time

• This week: Central Oregon should see fairly typical late-August temperatures, with little chance of precipitation.
• Late August: Temperatures could trend a bit cooler than normal, while rainfall could be somewhat wetter than normal.
• Overall pattern: The weather may become more active and changeable toward the end of August.
