Officer Trent Ireland joins Burns Police Department following DPSST Academy graduation

BURNS-The Burns Police Department officially welcomed a newly trained officer to its ranks following the graduation of Officer Trent Ireland from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Academy.
Officer Ireland successfully completed the intensive 16-week Basic Police Course held at the Oregon Public Safety Academy in Salem. The rigorous curriculum covers comprehensive law enforcement training, including firearms proficiency, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, Oregon criminal law, crisis intervention, and community-oriented policing.
The DPSST Academy serves as the foundational training ground for law enforcement officers across the state, ensuring graduates meet stringent statewide professional standards before returning to serve their local jurisdictions.
With his academy coursework complete, Officer Ireland returns to Burns to begin the next phase of his career. He will join his fellow officers on patrol, applying his specialized academy training directly to field operations and community safety efforts throughout the City of Burns.
