Officer involved shooting in Baker City

BAKER CITY – (Release from Baker County Sheriff’s Office) On January 2, 2024 at approximately 2:00 a.m., two Baker City Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Clark and Church Streets, which resulted in an officer involved shooting. The passenger brandished a firearm and was subsequently shot by officers.

The suspect received medical attention and was transported to a hospital out of the area. The Baker County Major Crimes Team, consisting of Oregon State Police, Baker County Sheriff’s Office, Baker City Police Department and the Baker County District Attorney, has been activated. The scene has been secured, and there is no threat to the public.

A full investigation of the incident is being conducted by the Baker County Major Crimes Team. As per policy, both officers have been placed on critical incident leave.
