LA GRANDE – Motorists who use Oregon Highway 82 from La Grande to Elgin can count on some delays starting next week. That’s when the Oregon Department of Transportation begins a culvert repair and replacement project. The work is weather dependent and is expected to be finished by late October.
The project will begin near milepost 4 east of La Grande and end just east of the junction with Merritt Lane near milepost 30. The culvert repair portion of the project will mean daytime traffic control with minimal delays to traffic.
The lengthy part of the work is at milepost 25 where a culvert will be fully replaced the week of Sept. 23. It will cause more traffic impacts that could last up to a week. ODOT says that week motorists can expect 24-hour flagging, reduced speed limit, delays of up to 20 minutes, and a 16-foot travel lane.
