LA GRANDE – Fire Departments were called out to a structure fire yesterday (Monday morning) before noon at the Oregon Department of Transportation sign shop.  When firefighters arrived smoke and flames were visible.  Tom Strandberg, Public Information Officer for ODOT, said Firefighters yesterday were still determining the cause.  The roof of the two-bay metal building collapsed.  Strandberg said, no equipment was in the building and no injuries were reported.

(Information provided by ODOT)  The Oregon Department of Transportation District 13 sign shop caught fire Monday morning around 10:30 a.m. No one was in the building at the time and no one was hurt. No other buildings were damaged. Fire crews responded quickly and worked to put out the blaze. The roof collapsed, but the full extent of damage has not been assessed.

The sign shop is a two-bay metal-sided structure separate from other building on the ODOT La Grande campus. The fire department remains on scene and will work to determine a cause.

“We are thankful that everyone is safe and for the La Grande Fire Department’s quick response,” said ODOT District 13 Manager Ace Clark.
