ODOT launches transportation survey

SALEM – The Oregon Department of Transportation is working with the Rebuilding Our Transportation Vision Workgroup to present a survey that asks Oregonians what they think ODOT’s priorities should be. The workgroup, appointed by Gov. Tina Kotek, has until December to present a report of what can be done to solve the funding crisis at ODOT. Umatilla County Board of Commissioners Chairman Dan Dorran is a member of the workgroup.

The group reviewed the proposed survey earlier this month and provided feedback. Members want to make sure the questionnaire provides “a neutral space to hear directly from Oregonians.” Opportunities for people to provide additional comments were added to each survey question by the workgroup.

The survey, which went live this past Friday, will be available until 6 p.m. on Sept. 10.

The workgroup is charged with developing recommendations to maintain and improve Oregon’s transportation system more efficiently, outlining how the state should prioritize its transportations fairly as well as suggesting affordable options to fund it.

The survey asks what the state’s transportation priorities should be, how ODOT’s dollars should be spent, and what reductions would have the biggest impact. There is also an optional question that asks what a successful and well-managed transportation system should look like and what would make citizens confident that the state’s transportation dollars are being well spent.
