MALHEUR COUNTY — Electric vehicle drivers in Malheur Country will be getting a new public Level 2 EV Charging Port, according to a release from the Oregon Department of Transportation. Dynalectric in Malheur County has been awarded $36,000 from the second round in funding of the Community Charging Rebates program. Out of 460 new stations, the Malheur County EV charging port is the only one set to go up on the eastern side of the state.

Oregon’s electric vehicle drivers will see 460 new public Level 2 EV charging ports in communities across the state by 2026 thanks to the second funding round from our Community Charging Rebates program.
The rebates program reimburses some of the project costs of buying and installing Level 2 EV charging stations at multifamily homes, workplaces and publicly accessible parking areas.

The program’s second funding round ran from March 5 to July 3 this year and had $2.5 million available. We reserved 70% of the funding for projects in rural and disadvantaged communities.

Round 3 opens this month
The third funding round for the rebate program opens Dec. 17, 2024 and will have $2.75 million available for eligible projects. Visit the program webpage for the application link and scroll to the bottom of the page to find resources to help you complete your application.

The Community Charging Rebates program offers rebates for Level 2 EV charging projects at multifamily homes, workplaces, and publicly accessible parking areas throughout Oregon. The rebates range from $3,500 – $6,250 per charging port or up to 75% of eligible project costs, whichever is less.
Eligible businesses, nonprofits, public entities, Tribes, EV service providers, and owners of multifamily home complexes may apply.
