MILTON-FREEWATER – For some time, the Oregon Department of Human Services has been looking for a sizeable building in the Milton-Freewater area. Now, after some renovation, ODHS will have a new location off Highway 11 in a portion of the former Sykes call center building, 151 Sykes Boulevard.
Umatilla County Commissioner Cindy Timmons said ODHS has been working with the county to find a large space that the city did not have. She said ODHS was even willing to build.
ODHS Press Secretary Jake Sunderland confirmed the new office will house the same services already available in Milton-Freewater, along with community partner organizations.
The transition from the current office to the new location will begin in spring 2025. A planned opening date has not been set.
