ODHS Hosting food drive for Malheur County residents. Donations needed

ONTARIO โ€“ The Oregon Department of Human Services (OHDS) is hosting a food drive for Malheur County residents experiencing food insecurity or who are at risk of losing SNAP benefits due to the Government Shutdown. As written in a recent post shared by the Malheur County Sheriffโ€™s Office:

โ€œThousands of Malheur Co. residents are stressed out and feel helpless due to the potential of SNAP benefits going unpaid if the Government shutdown continues into November. ODHS is hosting a food drive to collect essential items for local families and individuals in need. Every donation brings us closer to relieving hunger for vulnerable populations and giving hope during a scary, hopeless time.โ€

Non-Perishable Items currently needed include:

  • Simple pasta like Mac โ€˜N Cheese, Hamburger Helper, Top Ramen, etc.
  • Canned fruits and vegetables.
  • Pasta, rice, grains, beans.
  • Soups and sauces.
  • Baby food and formula.
  • Cereal, oats, granola.
  • Canned meats (tuna, spam, chicken, etc.).
  • Drinks (juice, powdered milk, water, tea, protein shakes, etc.).
  • Any and all non-perishable food.

Donated items can be dropped off at the ODHS Ontario Office, 186 East Lane, Ontario, Suite 4. The food collection is ongoing until further notice. For questions contact the following ODHS staff:
