WALLOWA COUNTY – (Release from ODFW) ODFW biologists shot a yearling male wolf from the Chesnimnus Pack early Friday evening. The operation took place from the ground.

With the taking of this second wolf, the active kill permit that allowed the lethal removal of two wolves from the Chesnimnus Pack due to chronic depredation is no longer active. (The first wolf was shot on May 3 by the livestock producer’s agent.)

Livestock producers in the area are continuing to use non-lethals including human presence to reduce livestock depredation.  ODFW will continue to assess the situation for possible further actions.
